I dreamed as a little girl of being a television reporter, while watching Walter Cronkite report on what was the most devastating event of my short life. the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I took a detour and worked a few years as a newspaper reporter. But in 1981. my childhood dream became a reality, to my everlasting Joy.

Deborah Horne began her television career at WPRI in Providence, R.I., in 1981, after a brief career as a newspaper reporter at the Providence Journal Company.

In 1991, she was hired at KIRO 7 m Seattle. It was there that her career blossomed. For a tome, she anchored weekends with 2015 Silver Circle recipient Chns Legeros.

In 1994, she created and hosted KIRO lnColor. a public affairs show that covered issues of diversity. Her motto was "We cover stones about people who happen to be people of color living m the Pacific Northwest." The show lasted 18 years and was honored with four Emmy• awards. numerous Emmye nominations. and garnered national recognition.

Deborah also produced Backstage, a short-lived pubhc affairs show about women, whoch also received an Emmy• nomination. It was the first show she produced that was hosted by someone else. She has also received an Emmy• award for Spot News.

She has volunteered her time helping in the fight against domestic v,olence, at one point hosting a Seattle City Council quarterly television program that covered domestic violence in straight, gay, and immigrant communltles. She has also acted as emcee numerous times for New Beginnings, a domestic violence advocacy organization. Hers has been "the voice" on the King County Domestic Violence Information Line for more than 20 years.

Deborah is a board member for SAG-AFTRA Seattle. She loves the arts that abound in Seattle: the opera, the symphony and the many theaters. In 2008, she appeared in the movie, World's Greatest Dad starring Robm Williams. She has also volunteered with Seattle Emergency Housing and Big Brothers Sisters of Puget Sound.

Deborah dedicates her Silver Circle to her late parents, Willie and Daisy P. Horne, who never wavered in their belief m her.
