Ray Heacox grew up in Tacoma, where he attended Clover Park High School and Pacific Lutheran University (PLU). His degree in Communications Arts opened doors for him in the sales department of a small Portland, Ore.-area radio station. What was intended to be a temporary employment (in order to finance a future in documentary films) quickly became a career path as success and opportunity came knocking.

Ray was part of The Home Team long before he knew he would be lead mg it. His history with the company dates back to the 1970s as local sales manager for KGW, one of the crown jewels in Dorothy Bullitt’s King Broadcasting Company. Though sales was his entry point into the television industry, Ray's vision and mind for business meant much bigger things ahead.

Ray’s resume includes time as a network executive in New York and Los Angeles with NBC, also as the first director of the Paul F. Harron Graduate Program in Television Management at Drexel University. He currently serves as president and general manager of KING 5, KONG, and NWCN.

Under his leadership, KING 5 has been the recipient of two national Edward R. Murrow awards for overall excellence, two Peabody awards for KING 5 investigations, a DuPont Award from Columbia University, four regional Emmy• awards for overall excellence and the National Association of Broadcasters Service to America Award,

He currently lives in Seattle with his with Cynthia Huffman. Ray is a trustee and past chair of the ArtsFund Board; a member of the Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation Board; past member of the board of the Northwest Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, and a past member of the NBC Affiliates Board.

Additional honors include the 2013 American Jewish Committee's Human Relations award for community service, 2012 Broadcasting and Cable Magazine GM of the Year for large markets. the PLU Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2012, the 2012 Greater NW MS Society Hope Award, and now-with much appreciation-induction into the NATAS Northwest Silver Circle.
