2022 Inductee: Nancy Guppy

A steward of the arts and its culture community, championing artists with charisma, humor, joy, and warmth. You generously share your own experiences as a creative, and always make it possible for us to experience the awesome power of art.

Nancy (Harris) Guppy graduated from the University of Washington in 1982 with a liberal arts degree in an obscure major that offered approximately zero job opportunities. In an attempt to shake off her “What in the hell am I doing with my life?” existential ennui, Nancy signed up for an acting class at Seattle Central Community College, a Hail Mary pass that launched her 35+ year career in television production.

Highlights include writer/performer/producer on KING TV’s late night sketch comedy show, “Almost Live;” writer on the HBO series, “Not Necessarily The News; ” sidekick + traffic chick on the KMPS morning radio show, “Ichabod Caine &The Waking Crew;” host of the UWTV environmental series, “The Salmon Exchange;” co-producer of “MUSICIAN: A Portrait Project;” creator/host/producer of “City a Go Go” on KCTS 9 and the Seattle Channel; and co-creator/host/producer of “Art Zone with Nancy Guppy” on the Seattle Channel.

The undisputed key to Nancy’s longevity has been working with outstanding producers, videographers, editors, and managers, such as Ralph Bevins, Rosemary Garner, Shannon Gee, Gary Gibson, Joe Guppy, Kate Huisentruit, John Keister, Peggy “Tenacious P” Lycett, Vincent Pierce, Ernie Sapiro, and Bill Stainton. This honor is shared with Sheila Mullen, co-creator of Art Zone and undisputed greatest producer in the history of television. More about Nancy is @ www.nancyguppy.org
